Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she turned down political opportunities she believes could have made her a billionaire because accepting them would have required compromising her principles.
The actress made the disclosure while discussing her financial ambitions, political connections, and the values that have shaped some of her major life decisions.
The Nollywood star explained that her decision reflected a conscious choice to prioritise personal values over financial gain, despite the potential benefits of accepting the political opportunities.
She maintained that her refusal was not because she lacked access to avenues capable of generating substantial wealth, but because she was unwilling to make compromises she considered inconsistent with her principles.
“I tell people that if I wanted to be a billionaire, I could have been one easily. I’ve been offered that opportunity through politics, but I chose not to take it because it would compromise my principles,” Omotola said.
On the other hand, she did not provide details about the specific political opportunities she was taking about.
The statement nevertheless adds another dimension to Omotola’s public profile beyond her long-standing career in Nigeria’s film industry.
