Why I miss having a wife —Actor Kunle Omisore

Nollywood actor Kunle Omisore has opened up about the emotional toll of his divorce, revealing that he sometimes feels lonely at home and misses having a wife to confide in and provide emotional support.

Omisore made the disclosure during an interview with African A-List, where he reflected on fatherhood, relationships, betrayal, loneliness and his experience surviving a gunshot incident.

The actor described divorce as a painful experience that leaves a lasting emotional impact, although he said he is no longer holding on to the hurt from his failed marriage.

According to him, healing from divorce is difficult and ultimately requires divine intervention, as the experience becomes part of a person’s life.

“It’s difficult. It’s only God who can heal a divorcee. I’m not holding on to the hurt. It’s just going to be a part of you. You cannot live out of it,” Omisore said, explaining the lasting effect the breakdown of his marriage has had on him.

Speaking about life after the marriage, the actor said loneliness can become particularly noticeable when he returns home. He stressed that having women around him does not provide the same emotional connection and companionship that comes with having a wife.

“You’ll feel lonely in the house. It’s not like you don’t have a woman who can satisfy you, but that’s different from having a wife,” he said.

Omisore further revealed that there are moments when he becomes troubled but has no one to share his concerns with or help him process what he is experiencing.

He said such moments have forced him to develop ways of managing his emotions privately, particularly around his children.

The actor explained that he sometimes parks his car outside his home for some time before going inside, allowing himself to calm down so that his children will not realise that he is dealing with personal difficulties.

“There are times when you know that when you’re troubled, someone would calm you down. Instead, I will get home, I will park outside for a while, and wind down, so those children wouldn’t know something is wrong with me,” he said.

Despite the pain associated with the end of his marriage, Omisore said he does not view the union entirely as a failure because it produced what he described as “glorious children”.

For him, the presence of his children gives the marriage a lasting value despite its eventual breakdown.

“I didn’t suffer a failed marriage because glorious children came from it,” the actor said, reflecting on the positive outcome he associates with his former relationship.

Looking ahead, the actor said he has plans to relocate to Europe within the next 10 years, where he hopes to live a quieter life and raise his children according to his religious values.
