Global music icon, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, popularly known as Rihanna, has celebrated two decades in the entertainment industry with a heartfelt message of gratitude to her fans, family, and industry collaborators.
In an emotional note shared on X on Saturday, the Barbadian-born superstar reflected on the life-changing decision she made 20 years ago to leave her homeland in pursuit of a dream that has since blossomed into worldwide acclaim.
“Twenty years ago, I left my country, my culture, my food, and family to embark on a journey that started with the release of my very first body of music.
“So, many of you were a part of my life and career since the very beginning, and some of you have joined the adventure along the way. I’m forever grateful to all of you,” she wrote.
The 36-year-old singer praised her loyal fan base, describing them as “the most loyal, die-hard fans that don’t play about me whatsoever.” She also acknowledged the contributions of executives, DJs, writers, producers, choreographers, designers, and others who shaped her career.
“I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you! Thank you for the greatest first 20 years ever,” she added. “I thank God. He’s been very generous to me, and the glory belongs to Him.”
Rihanna rose to prominence in 2005 with the release of her debut single ‘Pon de Replay’. The track catapulted her into global fame and marked the beginning of a career that has since produced nine Grammy Awards, numerous Billboard chart records, and over 250 million records sold worldwide.
Her journey has also extended beyond music. Through Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, Rihanna built a billion-dollar business empire, positioning herself as one of the most successful female entrepreneurs of her generation.
The anniversary comes in a year that has already been marked by several personal milestones for the star. At the 2025 MET Gala in May, Rihanna revealed that she was expecting her third child, further expanding the family she shares with rapper A$AP Rocky.
Earlier in March, she described motherhood as an “Olympic sport,” explaining how balancing her career with raising her two sons has required endurance, sacrifice, and strength.
In January, Rihanna also shared personal reflections on how her lifestyle has evolved with fame and age. “I stopped liking clubs in my 20s,” she admitted, pointing to a shift in her priorities as she embraced a quieter, more family-centred life.
These glimpses into her personal growth alongside her professional achievements have shaped the narrative of a woman who has not only redefined global pop culture but also built a multifaceted legacy.
Fans and celebrities alike have flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising her artistry, resilience, and impact on music, fashion, and business.
