President Tinubu graduated with first class in accounting, education minister insists

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has insisted that President Bola Tinubu graduated with a first-class degree in accounting from Chicago State University, United States.

Alausa made the claim during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, saying his familiarity with the institution and personal encounters with Tinubu’s former classmates supported his position.

The minister, who said he lived in Chicago for almost 30 years, dismissed doubts about Tinubu’s educational background, claiming he had visited the university several times and met many people who studied alongside the President.

He also described the president as a genius, insisting that his intellectual capacity should not be questioned.

Asked whether he had personally met Tinubu’s classmates, Alausa replied, “Oh, many, many, many, in person. Many.”

The minister further defended Tinubu’s performance in office, arguing that the president had transformed Nigeria’s economic fortunes since assuming office in 2023. He said the administration had moved the country from a moribund state towards economic growth.

“Look at how he’s transformed a moribund country three years ago to a country that is growing,” Alausa said.

However, when the interviewer raised concerns about Nigeria’s out-of-school children and poverty levels, the minister insisted that the discussion should focus on the president’s achievements.
