Peju Ogunmola returns to acting months after son’s death

Veteran Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola has made a comeback to acting, months after the death of her only child, Ayomikun Ogunmola, marking the end of a difficult period that kept her away from the public eye.

In a video shared on her official Instagram page on Friday, Ogunmola reflected on the tough months she had endured, expressing gratitude to her fans and colleagues whose love and prayers helped her find the strength to move forward.

“A new month, a new dawn. The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today, I rise, stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again. The screens have missed me, and I’m back doing what I love most,” she said.

The message gained attention online, as friends, fans, and fellow actors filled her comment section with heartfelt messages, celebrating her courage and expressing joy over her long-awaited return.

The actress’s only child, Ayomikun, passed away in Ibadan in September 2025 after a brief illness. The tragedy struck only months after the family celebrated the 70th birthday of Peju’s husband and veteran comic actor, Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Aluwe.

Following the incident, Ogunmola completely withdrew from public life, skipping film projects, events, and social gatherings as she took time to grieve and recover.

However, with time, Ogunmola gradually began reconnecting with close friends and colleagues, though she remained largely absent from public events until her recent announcement.

Her return on Friday marked a significant emotional moment. In her post, captioned “New month, new dawn,” she assured her fans that she would be back on screen soon.
