Streams of Joy International, the church led by Pastor Jerry Eze, has responded to a viral video in which a woman identified as Sandra Okpara claimed she mistakenly transferred N1,640,200 to the church’s account and appealed for the money to be returned.
Okpara drew attention online after stating in the video that the N1.64 million transaction was made in error and was not intended as an offering. She publicly appealed for a refund, prompting reactions on social media and eventually drawing a response from the church.
“I mistakenly sent N1,640,200 (N1.640 million) into Pastor Jerry Eze’s church account. Please, I need the money back. It’s not an offering,” she said in the viral video.
Reacting to the claim, Streams of Joy International said it had not received any call, email, direct message, or formal complaint from Okpara before the video was published online.
The church explained that it has an established process for handling reports involving money mistakenly transferred into its accounts.
According to the church, similar cases of erroneous transactions are routinely investigated and resolved after the necessary verification has been completed.
It said Okpara’s allegation would be treated in the same manner to determine whether the transaction occurred as claimed.
Streams of Joy added that its team had since contacted Okpara using the telephone number provided in the viral video and had begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged transaction.
The church assured that appropriate action would be taken if the information provided by the woman was verified.
The church also reiterated its willingness to address genuine complaints, saying its team remained committed to handling such concerns transparently and responsibly.
No confirmation was provided in the statement that the N1.64 million had been received, while the outcome of the verification process had yet to be disclosed.
The incident comes amid continued public attention surrounding Pastor Jerry Eze, who has built a significant online audience through his prayer programmes. The clergyman has attracted widespread attention in recent years, particularly through prayer meetings streamed on YouTube.
