Afrobeats sensation Stanley Omah Didia, widely known by his stage name Omah Lay, has once again drawn public attention after posting a series of cryptic messages on Snapchat, reflecting on his personal journey, emotional state, and sense of inner peace.
The “Understand” hitmaker disclosed that although he feels spiritually at ease, he is not yet ready to take on the role or responsibilities of fatherhood.
In his words, he wrote, “I’m very much not ready to be a baby daddy. but I’m their father, their father in the highest, at peace in Heaven, blowing clean Canada.”
The artist’s comments have been viewed as a continuation of his pattern of self-reflection, echoing previous statements in which he spoke about his emotional well-being and the mental strain that often comes with fame.
A native of Rivers State, Omah Lay also revealed that he has developed a sense of emotional distance from the chaos of everyday life. He explained that while events unfold around him, they seldom have any real effect on his inner calm.
He wrote, “Everything happens, but nothing ever happens to me. I don’t expect you to understand.”
In the same posts, Omah Lay also revealed his feelings towards a Yoruba woman he once had affection for. He explained that while he still misses her, he finds that relationships have become less appealing to him over time.
He wrote, “I miss my Yoruba girl bad. I like them but when e too plenty e dey turn me off. Yeah, I got no girls. It has become a boring activity of late.”
Omah Lay’s latest remarks follow a series of similar expressions in the past that have raised public concern about his emotional well-being.
In July 2023, the artist publicly admitted to struggling with his mental health when he posted on social media, “I’m losing my mind again.” The statement generated discussions across entertainment circles, as many pointed to the pressures that often accompany success in the Nigerian music industry.
Earlier, in 2024, Omah Lay’s manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, confirmed that he had parted ways with the singer, citing the need for a change in direction. The announcement came shortly after reports that Omah Lay was taking time off to focus on personal growth and recovery.
He also revealed during that period that he almost removed his collaboration with Davido, titled “With You,” from Davido’s “Timeless” album, suggesting that he was undergoing a difficult emotional phase at the time.
