Nana Otedola has disclosed that she was genuinely surprised when she learnt that her daughter, actress Temi Otedola, and her husband, singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, were expecting their first child shortly after their wedding.
Speaking on the latest episode of the couple’s How Far podcast, Nana explained that she had assumed the newlyweds would spend a few years enjoying married life before starting a family, making the pregnancy announcement an unexpected but welcome development.
During the conversation, Nana Otedola said she initially believed Temi and Mr Eazi would focus on travelling and settling into married life before having children.
According to her, she was taken aback when she heard that a baby was already on the way, admitting that it differed from the timeline she had imagined for the couple. However, she said her daughter quickly reminded her that they had already spent several years together before exchanging vows.
Recalling the exchange, Nana said Temi told her, “Mom, we’ve dated for five years, we’ve done all of that.”
She explained that the response made her realise the couple had already experienced many of the milestones she thought they would enjoy after marriage. Nana added that the experience also taught her not to make assumptions about the couple’s personal decisions, especially after being surprised by aspects of their wedding plans.
Despite her initial reaction, Nana expressed delight over the relationship between Temi and Mr Eazi, describing them as a couple who complement each other well. She said she was pleased with how they supported one another and believed they brought out the best in each other as partners.
The revelation comes months after Temi and Mr Eazi publicly announced that they were expecting their first child. The couple shared the news in May through a joint Instagram post featuring photographs of Temi’s growing baby bump.
Accompanying the images was a Bible verse which read: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart,” a message that attracted widespread congratulations from fans, colleagues and well-wishers.
The pregnancy announcement followed the couple’s private wedding, which took place in August 2025 at the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavík, Iceland.
