Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has revealed that he developed erectile dysfunction after undergoing brain surgery in the United States in 2015, saying the complication affected his personal life following the procedure.
Agwu made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he discussed the impact of the surgery on his body, career and personal life.
The comedian was responding to a question about whether the brain condition or the operation had affected other parts of his body, including his sexual function.
“After I do am, prick no dey work again now. E no dey work,” Agwu said.
Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, discussed the possible connection between the surgery and the complication, explaining that a nerve connected to the brain was affected during the procedure.
Agwu underwent the surgery in 2015 after doctors discovered tumours in his brain. He has previously spoken publicly about his health challenges and how the condition affected different aspects of his life and career.
During the discussion, the comedian also reflected on his contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly his role in developing music comedy. He described the creative approach behind his performances and linked it to the way his mind works.
“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.
Agwu also became emotional while recounting his experience during the period of his health crisis. He said some of his friends abandoned him when he was going through the difficult period, leaving him to deal with the situation with limited support from people he had previously considered close to him.
“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
Agwu remains known for combining music with comedy and has built a career spanning comedy, acting and entertainment. His work in Nigerian comedy and Nollywood has made him a recognisable figure in the country’s entertainment industry.
