The ongoing marital conflict between Nollywood star Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a more dramatic turn after the actress accused the lawmaker of orchestrating the arrest of her siblings.
This latest episode marks a new height in a series of tensions and public exchanges that have kept the couple in the national spotlight for months.
In a series of posts on her Instagram Stories late Monday, Daniels alleged that her elder brother and sister had been detained on her husband’s orders, while her younger sister was also being targeted for arrest.
She claimed that Senator Nwoko was exploiting his political power to intimidate her family, allegedly to pressure her into returning to what he called a “rehabilitation programme.”
“Somebody please help me; I feel like I’m losing my mind. My older brother and sister have been arrested, and my younger sister could be next, unless I come back and, according to him, go to rehab,” she wrote.
She added, “You accused me of being a drug addict — me, I only use it to rub my body, sir! What else would you call me? A prostitute? One day, I’ll reveal everything you’ve done.”
The actress explained that she had kept quiet for the sake of her children but was now at her breaking point.
“Ned, leave my family alone and leave me alone too! It’s clear this is now a battle,” she said.
The controversy between the couple has been simmering for months. In early 2025, reports of marital strain surfaced when Regina Daniels noticeably removed her husband’s name and photos from her social media accounts. Speculation about a possible separation intensified after she was absent from several family and political events attended by Senator Nwoko.
In August 2025, Ned Nwoko publicly responded to viral rumours, accusing the actress of substance abuse and erratic behaviour.
In statements attributed to his media aides, the senator claimed Regina was undergoing rehabilitation for “drug and alcohol dependence” and that he was working to protect their children. The claims, however, were never substantiated, and Regina maintained silence until recently.
In October 2025, media outlets reported that Daniels had hinted at divorce, expressing disillusionment with her marriage, which she said had “become a shadow of what it once was.” Close associates of the actress suggested that tension had been building over issues related to control, personal freedom, and alleged interference in her career.
The ongoing feud reached a new level when Rita Daniels, the actress’s mother, released a video statement on Tuesday. In the viral clip, she accused Nwoko of betrayal and ingratitude, alleging that both she and her daughter had financially supported his political ambitions.
“Regina gave you $50,000 to support your election. We covered your shame and made you look like an Odogwu. You wanted someone with a high star to boost your fallen star. If you think you can bite the finger that fed you, you’ll go down,” she said.
Rita Daniels also accused the senator of “tarnishing their family’s name” despite their past loyalty to him, urging him to desist from further harassment.
As of press time, Senator Ned Nwoko had not publicly responded to the latest allegations.
Regina Daniels, 24, and Ned Nwoko, 64, married in 2019 in a widely publicised ceremony that drew both praise and criticism due to their significant age gap and the senator’s polygamous status. They are blessed with two children.
