An old interview featuring Nigerian lawmaker and businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko, has resurfaced online, drawing renewed attention to his marriage with popular Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, which is reportedly facing turbulence.
The interview, conducted in 2024, captured Nwoko stating that his marriage to Regina Daniels was influenced by family pressure rather than personal affection.
The senator, who represents the Delta North Senatorial District, said he married the actress because his relatives wanted him to choose a wife from his hometown.
“For her, particularly, I married her because she’s from my place. I was under pressure from my family. I don’t believe in dating before marriage. I marry, then fall in love within the marriage,” Nwoko said.
The video, which recently resurfaced on social media, has reignited discussions about the circumstances surrounding their 2019 union. At the time, Regina Daniels was 19 years old while Nwoko was 59. The marriage, which took place in Delta State, generated widespread attention due to the couple’s 40-year age difference and the senator’s polygamous background.
Recent reports suggest growing tension in the couple’s household. In a series of viral videos, Regina Daniels appeared emotional, alleging that she had suffered distress in her marriage. In one clip, the actress was seen crying and claiming she felt unrecognised and isolated in her husband’s home.
The development prompted statements from her family members, including her brother, who vowed to protect her. The situation has since attracted media coverage, although both parties have remained silent on the current state of their relationship.
While unconfirmed reports have circulated about alleged domestic disputes, neither Nwoko nor Daniels has publicly addressed the claims. Close associates of the couple have also declined to comment.
Nwoko and Daniels’ marriage became one of Nigeria’s most talked-about unions following their wedding six years ago. Despite the controversy surrounding their age difference, the couple often projected an image of unity and luxury, sharing pictures of family trips and milestones on social media.
