Businesswoman and entrepreneur Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian music star Davido, has encouraged celebrities and other public figures to embrace outfit repetition instead of feeling compelled to wear new clothes for every appearance.
Sharing her message in a recent Instagram video, Sharon said she deliberately chose to re-wear an outfit despite objections from members of her team, insisting that fashion should not be dictated by unnecessary public expectations.
According to Sharon, the decision came ahead of an event she attended on Sunday after deciding against making a new outfit specifically for the occasion. She revealed that some members of her team discouraged the move, arguing that people had already seen her in the same clothing and would notice she was wearing it again.
Rather than giving in to the pressure, she said she confidently wore the outfit, maintaining that there is nothing wrong with repeating clothes.
Using the experience to challenge long-standing perceptions around celebrity fashion, Sharon urged fellow public figures not to allow external opinions to influence their wardrobe choices. She stressed that the growing expectation for celebrities to appear in different outfits at every event places unnecessary pressure on individuals and promotes unhealthy spending habits that many people should not feel obligated to follow.
She maintained that confidence should outweigh public criticism, adding that she has no intention of changing her fashion choices to satisfy social expectations.
“Don’t let anybody tell you you can’t repeat your clothes. I will re-rock as many times as I like. I’m not going to let anybody put unnecessary pressure on me,” she said.
Encouraging others to adopt the same mindset, Sharon concluded her message with a simple appeal: “Don’t be afraid to repeat your clothes. Re-rock as many times as you like.”
