Afrobeats star Davido has intensified the political exchanges surrounding the Osun governorship election by sharing what he identified as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on social media.
The post came shortly after the governor made remarks about Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, drawing widespread reactions online and fuelling fresh debate across social media platforms.
The singer, who has consistently defended Governor Adeleke against critics in recent days, did not accompany the post with any written explanation. However, many social media users interpreted the upload as a direct response to Governor Okpebholo’s comments, in which he reportedly mocked Adeleke for dancing before taking action.
Although Davido remained silent in the post, the timing and nature of the upload quickly sparked conversations among supporters and critics alike.
The post generated significant engagement, with users offering varying interpretations of the singer’s response. Some praised Davido for defending his uncle, while others viewed the exchange as another chapter in the growing political rivalry surrounding the forthcoming Osun election.
Several commenters described the move as a swift comeback, while others reacted with humorous remarks that quickly circulated across social media platforms.

Davido’s latest social media activity follows another public exchange involving former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad.
Hours earlier, Ahmad had taunted the award-winning singer over his Grammy loss as both men traded words over issues connected to the Osun gubernatorial election. The online exchange attracted considerable attention, adding to the increasing political conversations involving the music star.
The singer has also continued to speak publicly about the forthcoming election. During a recent press briefing, Davido appealed to the Governor of Imo State to support a free and fair electoral process. Explaining his interest, he said he shares a personal connection with Imo because his wife, Chioma, hails from the state.
In an earlier post, Davido noted that he holds the Imo governor in high regard because of that family connection. However, he added that despite the respect, they would “meet on the field,” a statement widely interpreted as a reference to political competition and the electoral process.
The Grammy-nominated artiste has equally remained vocal in responding to critics of Governor Adeleke. He recently fired back at transport union leader MC Oluomo after the latter criticised the Osun governor over the suspension of transport workers in the state, with Davido mocking MC Oluomo’s spoken English during the exchange.
Beyond that, the singer previously directed criticism at former presidential spokesperson Reno Omokri, describing him with harsh words following an interview concerning why he had yet to resume his diplomatic posting in Mexico.
Davido also publicly criticised former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, describing him as “the most desperate politician in the world,” although he did not disclose the incident that prompted the remark.
His latest response to Governor Okpebholo further underscores his continued involvement in political conversations linked to his uncle and the evolving political landscape ahead of the Osun governorship election.
