Grammy-nominated Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to expand his career into acting, revealing that he is already involved in film production and hopes to appear on screen in the near future.
The award-winning singer disclosed that he has invested in two movies as an executive producer and is also preparing to release a major documentary, signalling a broader move into the entertainment industry beyond music.
Davido made the announcement during a recent interview with Vibe Q, where he spoke about his growing interest in filmmaking and acting.
According to the singer, his involvement in the movie industry has already begun behind the scenes, but he intends to take on acting roles as part of his future career plans.
The Unavailable crooner said acting has become one of the goals he hopes to achieve as his career continues to evolve. He explained that he has already committed resources to two film projects in the capacity of an executive producer and is equally excited about a documentary that is expected to be released soon.
Davido described the documentary as a significant project, suggesting it would give audiences a closer look at his journey and experiences.
“I want to get into movies. It is very, very big. And, yeah, I do want to act at some point in the future,” he said.
Beyond discussing his film ambitions, Davido reflected on the changing nature of the music industry, stressing that artists must continue to adapt to remain relevant. He said music, much like technology, is constantly evolving, making it necessary for creatives to embrace fresh ideas, sounds and storytelling techniques.
The singer expressed gratitude for the success he has enjoyed throughout his music career, noting that he remains passionate about making music despite his growing interest in other aspects of entertainment.
He said he would not trade his musical journey for another profession, describing it as a blessing that has connected him with millions of fans around the world.
“God has blessed me with an amazing career and fans. I wouldn’t ask for another type of career. Music is what I love, and music evolves just like technology. There’s always a new sound, a new creative idea, and a new way to tell your story,” he stated.
