Former media aide Ossai Ovie Success has publicly criticised Nigerian music star Davido and his wife, Chioma, for failing to attend the wedding of music executive Soso Soberekon, describing the singer’s absence as a sign of ingratitude.
The criticism follows the star-studded wedding ceremony held in Warri, Delta State, on Saturday, where Soberekon married his partner, Princess Ebiere.
Speaking on the matter, Ossai expressed disappointment that Davido, whom he described as a long-time friend and business associate of Soberekon, was absent from what he called one of the most important moments in the music executive’s life.
According to him, Soberekon had played a significant role in Davido’s career by supporting and promoting the singer both locally and internationally, making his absence from the wedding difficult to understand.
Ossai argued that loyalty should be mutual, insisting that attending the wedding would have been an opportunity for Davido to honour someone who had supported him over the years. He maintained that weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events that deserve the presence of close friends and associates, regardless of their busy schedules or public commitments.
Ossai said he expected Davido to show gratitude by attending the ceremony alongside his wife. He claimed that missing the event sent the wrong message about valuing long-standing relationships and recognising those who contributed to one’s success.
According to him, success should not make anyone forget the people who stood by them before fame.
He further stated that the issue was not about wealth, celebrity status, or professional obligations but about showing respect and appreciation. Ossai maintained that Soberekon had consistently supported Davido throughout his career and deserved the singer’s presence on his wedding day.
Soso Soberekon tied the knot with Princess Ebiere in Warri in a ceremony attended by several celebrities and prominent personalities from the entertainment industry.
The wedding attracted widespread attention on social media, with photos and videos from the event circulating online as fans celebrated the couple.
Davido’s absence, however, became a talking point after observers noted that the award-winning singer did not attend despite his long-standing relationship with the groom. Similarly, comedian Deeone also faulted Davido for missing the wedding, accusing the singer of failing to reciprocate Soberekon’s support over the years.
Deeone claimed that despite everything Soberekon had done for Davido, the singer did not attend the ceremony, adding his own criticism of the music star’s decision.
