Blessing CEO apologises for mocking people in grief after son’s death

Relationship therapist and social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for previously mocking or criticising people experiencing grief, following the death of her son, Bryan.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the influencer said losing her son had made her understand the depth of pain she once dismissed, prompting her to acknowledge her past statements and seek forgiveness.

Blessing CEO, who is known for her outspoken opinions on relationships and personal issues, described herself as broken and struggling to make sense of her loss.

She said the experience had left her emotionally disoriented, admitting that she had spoken carelessly about suffering she had never personally experienced.

“I am confused, my brain is so numb. The only thing I see is darkness,” she wrote, explaining that her world no longer made sense following her son’s death.

The social media personality expressed regret over her previous comments, acknowledging that she had underestimated the emotional weight of grief. According to her, experiencing the loss herself had changed her understanding of the pain endured by others.

“I am so sorry for speaking carelessly about the pains I have never felt. I am realising that talk is cheap, but action is loud. I am only human, with blood flowing through my veins. So, I am bound to make mistakes,” she said.

Blessing CEO also appealed to people who had been hurt by her previous statements, extending her apology to both supporters and critics. She said the loss had forced her to confront the consequences of her actions and recognise the pain she had previously mocked.

“I am so broken to the point that I am losing myself. I can now feel every bit of your pain that I once mocked. To those who still love me despite my mistakes, I am sorry. To those who no longer love me because of my actions, I am sorry,” she stated.

The influencer further likened her current situation to the biblical story of the prodigal son, describing her willingness to retrace her steps and begin again after learning difficult lessons.

“Let’s start all over again, now that I have learnt the lessons in a very hard way,” she said.

She also paid tribute to her late son, whom she affectionately called Dum Dum, promising to make amends and continue living in a way that would make him proud.

Blessing CEO added that her other son, grandmother, Amara, described as Bryan’s best friend, and his father were also grieving the loss.

She concluded her message by asking the public to pray for her, saying she was emotionally exhausted from praying alone.

Blessing CEO lost Bryan while she was in detention. His death became public in September after the Isaamira Love Foundation announced it. She later confirmed the loss but distanced herself from a fundraising appeal reportedly organised in her name.

Following her release from custody in October, the influencer spoke about the emotional difficulty of returning home without her son.
