Bishop David Oyedepo, the Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has strongly condemned the recent killings in Kaduna State, declaring that he would pray against those responsible rather than pray for them.
Speaking during a church service after the July 27, 2026 attack that reportedly claimed the lives of at least 30 people, including women and children, the cleric described the perpetrators and those allegedly sponsoring the violence as “destructive agents” who would face divine judgment.
Reacting to the attack, Oyedepo said the continued loss of innocent lives could no longer be ignored, insisting that those behind the killings should expect God’s judgment. He rejected suggestions that Christians should pray for the attackers, maintaining that such acts of violence against innocent people deserved condemnation and not sympathy.
Addressing the congregation, the bishop declared that he would direct his prayers against the killers and everyone connected to them. According to him, anyone capable of slaughtering innocent families should not expect prayers of mercy. He also pronounced what he described as a curse on individuals allegedly financing the attacks, saying every sponsor of killers in Nigeria would face the consequences of their actions.
“Woe to all destructive agents in Nigeria. Whether in power or out of power, judgement has finally come,” Oyedepo said during the service.
He further stated, “You can’t slaughter members of my family and want me to pray for you. I pray against you, against your household, against your generation. In the name of Jesus.”
The cleric also alleged that the attackers were receiving support from sponsors, arguing that the violence was not being carried out without backing. He insisted that many Nigerians were aware that those committing the attacks were being financed, adding that anyone who failed to recognise this reality had a serious problem.
Continuing his remarks, Oyedepo declared, “Every sponsor of killers in Nigeria, you come under a curse today.”
Beyond condemning the killings, the bishop questioned what he described as the government’s silence over the persistent attacks across the country. He said he had yet to hear an official statement from government authorities condemning the latest killings, expressing concern that the repeated loss of lives appeared to be receiving inadequate attention.
“You mean they kill people every day and government is pretending not to know what to do?” he asked.
“I have not heard any statement from government quarters against the killings. I’m here to hear one, sir. Our human life is not of value anymore?” he added.
Oyedepo also expressed concern over what he described as restrictions on public preaching, saying he had remained silent for a long time but now believed the time had come to speak openly.
According to him, God’s silence should not be mistaken for inaction, insisting that divine judgment would eventually come upon those responsible for wickedness.
“When you see God keep quiet at the wickedness of the wicked, it’s because the bubble is about to burst,” he said, adding, “I have long held my peace… but now I will rise, like a wounded lion, and I will devour at once.”
