Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has disclosed that she once strongly feared childbirth and had no intention of becoming a mother, a position she says has since changed following her personal experience.
The reality television personality shared this revelation in a message marking Mother’s Day, where she reflected on her journey into motherhood and how it reshaped her outlook on life.
In the message, Queen Mercy explained that the idea of giving birth used to frighten her significantly, influencing her earlier decision to avoid motherhood altogether.
However, she noted that her eventual transition into motherhood has altered that perspective, describing the experience as both eye-opening and deeply rewarding. She acknowledged that life circumstances can shift one’s mindset, adding that what once seemed daunting has now become a source of joy and fulfilment.
She stated that looking back at her former fears now makes her laugh, as she never imagined she would one day embrace motherhood so wholeheartedly.
According to her, the journey has not only changed her perception but has also introduced her to a level of purpose and emotional depth she had not anticipated, reinforcing her appreciation for the experience.
The reality star further noted that becoming a mother has strengthened her sense of responsibility, making her more focused, resilient, and driven to create a better future for her child.
According to her, the demands of motherhood, though sometimes exhausting, have also been deeply fulfilling, as the love she feels for her child outweighs the challenges she encounters daily.
She emphasised her commitment to being the best parent possible, stating that her primary goal now is to provide a life her child can be proud of. Queen Mercy added that even on difficult days, when she is tired and running on little sleep, the joy and love that come with motherhood make every sacrifice worthwhile.
In celebrating Mother’s Day, she extended warm wishes to mothers around the world, encouraging them to appreciate their efforts and recognise their value. She described mothers as deserving of honour and recognition for their dedication and sacrifices, noting that the role requires immense strength, patience and wisdom.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers around the world. Take your flowers mommies, you deserve them and so much more,” she said.
She also prayed for continued strength and grace for mothers, acknowledging the challenges that come with raising children.
