Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Doyin David, has urged contestants preparing for the 11th season of the reality television show to embrace authenticity and avoid playing safe when they enter the house.
Speaking at the BBNaija Season 11 pre-show media launch in Lagos, Doyin encouraged the incoming housemates to express themselves freely, without letting fear of criticism or public judgement dictate their actions.
Addressing journalists and guests at the event, Doyin said contestants should ensure they leave a lasting impression by actively participating in the show rather than fading into the background.
According to her, many housemates miss opportunities to stand out because they become overly cautious about how viewers will perceive them. She stressed that the reality show rewards personalities who are genuine and memorable, even if their actions generate mixed reactions among audiences.
The former reality star also advised participants to focus on being true to themselves throughout their stay in the house. She said contestants should not allow the possibility of criticism on social media or elsewhere to prevent them from speaking their minds or showing their real personalities.
“My advice to the incoming BBNaija Season 11 housemates is, don’t be boring, don’t be a piece of furniture. Don’t be scared of people judging you,” she said.
She further encouraged them to speak openly and act confidently, adding that they should be prepared to deal with any consequences that may arise from their choices after the show.
According to Doyin, trying too hard to avoid controversy often results in contestants becoming forgettable, reducing their chances of leaving a strong impact on viewers.
Beyond encouraging boldness, Doyin highlighted the importance of emotional resilience while living in the Big Brother house. She noted that contestants may not always find themselves surrounded by close friends and should therefore learn to enjoy their own company rather than relying on others for support or validation.
“Learn how to have fun by yourself. When you are in that house, you might not have a lot of friends, but you need to be able to stand alone and don’t be depressed about it,” she advised.
Organisers have confirmed that Big Brother Naija Season 11 will officially premiere on July 26, 2026, with expectations already building among fans across Nigeria and beyond.
This year’s winner will receive a grand prize valued at N160 million, comprising N100 million in cash and a brand-new sport utility vehicle.
