Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has said any man who claims he would not die for his woman is a “fool”, arguing that men should love their wives sacrificially.
The rapper made the statement during an episode of the In Motion Podcast on YouTube, where he discussed his views on relationships, marriage and his Christian faith. He also addressed the perception that he is misogynistic, insisting that the label is unfair, given his views about women and romantic relationships.
Odumodublvck explained his position by referring to the Bible’s teaching on how husbands should love their wives. According to him, Christian men are expected to love their wives in the same sacrificial manner that Christ loved the church.
He said, “Any man wey talk say he no fit die for him woman na fool!”
The rapper further said he expected to die before his wife because she is younger than him. He explained that, should he die first, his wife would be able to take care of their children, distribute his belongings and continue whatever he had started.
“I’m probably going to die before my wife, in Jesus’ name. Amen… Why should my wife die before me? When she’s younger than me? Doesn’t make any sense. I should die before my wife,” he said.
Odumodublvck also attributed his attitude towards women and money to his upbringing, particularly the example set by his mother, whom he described as a cheerful giver.
He said her generosity had influenced his own approach to money, noting that he often gives money to other people rather than keeping it for himself.
“Like me now, my mom is a cheerful giver. If you give me one million Naira now, before you know it, I’ve sent it to ten people. I don’t know how to hold money. So my girlfriend will be holding my money for me,” the rapper said.
He also used the game of chess to illustrate his view of the importance of women in relationships. According to him, the queen is the strongest piece on the chessboard, and losing her leaves the king exposed.
“So if you don’t understand the concept of loving a woman and putting a woman where a woman is meant to be. Like if you look at chess, the strongest piece on the board is the queen,” he said.
“If the queen goes, just forget that game. Forget the game. The king is exposed,” he added.
The rapper also spoke about claims that he is a misogynist, saying the perception bothers him because he considers it an unfair characterisation. He questioned how someone who openly expresses a willingness to die for his partner could be regarded as someone who hates or looks down on women.
