Nkechi Blessing opens up on healing, moving on

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has reflected on the importance of letting go of regret and bitterness, saying she has chosen to embrace happiness and live more intentionally.

The actress shared her thoughts in an Instagram post, where she spoke about life’s uncertainties, personal healing, and the need to appreciate the present rather than postponing happiness while waiting for everything to fall into place.

Her message comes amid mourning in Nigeria’s entertainment industry following the death of gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, who reportedly slumped in Ibadan on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

In her post, though not directly linked to Toluwanisings, Nkechi said her experiences had taught her that life was too short to remain trapped in painful memories, pursue affection at the expense of personal dignity, or allow disappointment to prevent her from enjoying life.

“I am learning that life is too short to live in regret, carry bitterness, beg for love, or postpone happiness while waiting for everything to be perfect,” she wrote.

The actress acknowledged that life does not always unfold according to people’s expectations, noting that some plans change, people disappoint, and long-awaited desires may never materialise as imagined.

However, she maintained that life’s uncertainties do not eliminate the possibility of new beginnings, healing, and unexpected blessings. According to her, people can still find reasons to look forward to the future, even when their experiences have not matched their expectations.

Nkechi explained that her decision to move on was not based on having an easy life but on recognising the freedom that comes with releasing emotional burdens and allowing herself to experience happiness.

“So, I choose to move on. Not because everything was easy, but because I deserve the freedom that comes with letting go,” she stated.

She further described how she intended to approach life, emphasising the importance of celebrating personal achievements, creating meaningful memories and appreciating the opportunities available in the present.

The actress said she wanted to laugh more, love more deeply, travel, dress beautifully, buy herself flowers and celebrate even the smallest victories. She also stressed that people should not spend their entire lives merely trying to survive when they could also enjoy life’s positive experiences.

“I refuse to spend my entire life surviving when I can also experience the beauty of actually living!” she added.

Nkechi’s post came as tributes and reports continue to emerge following Toluwanisings’ death, which has drawn attention across Nigeria’s entertainment and gospel music communities.

Several developments linked to the singer’s passing have continued to feature in entertainment news.

Gospel singer Kay Wonder, for instance, postponed a praise concert following the tragedy, while reports also emerged concerning allegations that Toluwanisings had been rejected by eight hospitals before his death. An aide reportedly made the allegation.

Separately, the singer’s family debunked a viral fundraiser purportedly connected to his wife and children.
