Gospel singer Toluwanisings dies after reportedly slumping at Ibadan residence

Popular Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, widely known as Toluwanisings, has died after reportedly slumping at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, following complaints of tiredness.

His death was confirmed by his family in a statement shared on his verified Instagram page on Wednesday night, hours after concerns emerged about his health.

The gospel minister reportedly slumped at home after returning from a worship programme in Ibadan, where he had ministered on Tuesday night.

In the statement announcing his death, the family said Toluwanisings passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14.

“With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026,” the statement read.

The family, in the statement, added, “A dearly loved husband, family member, and gospel minister.

“Please keep his wife, family, and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.”

Toluwanisings had ministered at In His Presence, a monthly worship programme hosted by fellow gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan on Tuesday night. The programme was his last reported ministration before news of his health condition emerged the following day.

Tributes and expressions of grief have continued to emerge from colleagues, fans and other members of the public following the announcement.

Lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi and comedian Woli Agba were among those who had earlier called for prayers amid concerns about the singer’s health.

His family is yet to announce funeral arrangements, saying further details would be communicated in due course.
