Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold

Davido will ride for anybody he loves — Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has described Davido as a loyal and genuine friend who goes out of his way to support the people he cares about, offering a glimpse into their relationship that has grown beyond their collaborations in the music industry.

Adekunle Gold, also known as AG Baby, spoke about the Afrobeats star during an appearance on the One54 Africa Podcast hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila and Godfrey Danchimah.

Reflecting on Davido’s personality outside the public spotlight, he said the singer’s commitment to his friends extends beyond music and professional partnerships.

“Davido will ride for anybody he loves,” Adekunle Gold said.

He described the singer as someone who consistently supports people within his circle, adding that the support is not restricted to their careers or activities in the entertainment industry.

The friendship between both artistes became stronger after they worked together on Adekunle Gold’s 2021 hit song ‘High’.

Adekunle Gold recalled that after writing the track, he believed Davido was the right artiste to bring onto the record and subsequently reached out to him about the collaboration.

Davido agreed to participate, and their work on the song eventually extended beyond the recording studio.

According to Adekunle Gold, Davido travelled to Los Angeles for the music video shoot, where the pair spent time together while completing the project.

‘High’ became an important collaboration between the two singers, but their professional relationship did not end with the 2021 release.

Davido later appeared on ‘Only God Can Save Me’, a track from Adekunle Gold’s “Fuji” album, further strengthening their musical partnership.

Their connection has also been visible on stage. Beyond scheduled collaborations and studio recordings, Adekunle Gold and Davido have made surprise appearances during each other’s performances.

Both singers have maintained prominent careers within Nigerian music while also reaching audiences internationally.
