Ruth Kadiri debunks death rumours

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has dismissed reports circulating on social media that she died in a car accident, assuring fans that she is alive, safe and was never involved in any accident.

The actress spoke out after discovering several social media accounts spreading the false claim, urging members of the public to report the pages rather than amplify the fabricated story.

Kadiri said she woke up on Sunday to find that multiple accounts had been created to circulate the same death report, with about seven to eight pages allegedly pushing the claim at the same time. She described the reports as entirely false and asked her followers to help get the accounts taken down by using the reporting tools provided by the platforms.

“Hey, guys, please note that I am alive. I did not have any accident, and I am safe,” Kadiri said.

She explained that rather than responding to or reposting the claims in an attempt to debunk them, people should simply report the accounts responsible.

According to her, reporting the pages would be more useful than helping the false information gain wider attention online.

She stated that she found it troubling that people would deliberately create false content suggesting that another person had died.

Kadiri said the experience had become emotionally exhausting, particularly because she generally keeps to herself and avoids unnecessary controversies on social media.

“I am really sad at the extent to which some people will go on this social media space to hurt and wish death on another person,” she said.

“I stay in my lane. Leave me alone. I beg you all. It’s really becoming tiring and sad,” she added.

The actress is among several Nollywood personalities who have had to respond publicly to similar online rumours in recent years.

Despite the death rumour, Kadiri has continued with her entertainment work. She is currently focused on her latest project, Once Upon a Village, a series being released through her digital platform, RuthKadiri247.

Episode five of the series recently featured actors Henrietta Ibekwe and Deza The Great.
