President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary.
The development was announced by the presidency on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as the ruling party begins preparations for the next presidential election.
The composition of the campaign council was disclosed in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will occupy the position of Vice-Chairman I. The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was named Vice-Chairman II.
The council’s leadership also includes APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, who was appointed Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Assistant Secretary.
The appointments bring senior figures from the presidency, the APC leadership and state governments into the structure expected to coordinate the ruling party’s campaign activities ahead of the 2027 election.
As chairman of the council, Tinubu will work with a group of advisers comprising prominent political figures with experience in party administration and governance.
The advisory team includes former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha, former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
The announcement comes as political activity surrounding the 2027 general election continues to gather momentum, with parties and political figures increasingly positioning themselves ahead of the contest.
