Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe has sparked controversy after sharing a throwback video of herself kissing Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, accompanied by the caption, “Free Juma Jux,” in what has been widely interpreted as a subtle message directed at his wife, Nigerian actress Priscilla Ojo.
The now-deleted post surfaced on social media on Friday, August 21, 2026, and quickly drew reactions, particularly from Nigerian social media users.
The video, which featured Monroe and Jux during their past relationship, showed the former couple sharing a kiss before Monroe added the caption.
Although she did not explain what she meant by “Free Juma Jux,” the timing and nature of the post led many online observers to view it as a dig at the singer’s marriage to the Nollywood actress.
The post has since generated significant backlash. Some commenters described the move as disrespectful and suggested that the Kenyan socialite should leave the past behind, while others questioned the decision to share an intimate throwback involving someone who is now married.
The controversy comes amid renewed public interest in Jux and Ojo’s relationship following the singer’s recent appearance at Peller’s wedding, where social media users commented on his slimmer appearance.
Jux subsequently addressed concerns about his weight in a video shared by his wife, explaining that his stomach had previously been bigger and that he preferred his current appearance.
He also said he wanted to become wealthy and be in a good place.
Despite his explanation, some Tanzanian social media users reportedly visited Ojo’s pages and urged her to leave the singer alone.
Responding to the criticism, Ojo said she had her husband “trapped,” further fuelling online discussion about the couple’s marriage. She later shared photographs of herself and Jux from their trip to London, describing herself as his “handbag.”
The latest controversy is not the first time Ojo’s marriage to Jux has attracted social media scrutiny. Earlier this year, the actress responded to a troll who questioned whether her husband deserved his AFRIMA award, telling the critic to stop hating in 2026.
She also responded to a follower who asked about Jux’s whereabouts by saying he was in bed cuddling her.
Ojo has similarly faced criticism over her public displays of affection for Jux. After Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi warned her against posting loved-up content with her husband amid concerns surrounding Tanzania, Ojo shared more photographs from their wedding with the caption, “Thank God, say God no be man.”
Jux’s career and marriage have also featured prominently in online debates in Nigeria. After he won the Best East African Artiste of the Year award at the Headies, a social media user suggested that his marriage to Ojo was partly motivated by the desire for Nigerian recognition and awards.
Ojo responded sarcastically, saying her husband married her for Nigerian recognition and the Headies award, while praising him as a smart, calculative and hardworking man.
