Martins Iyeh has become the first housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija Season 11 reality show after spending two weeks in the house.
The 30-year-old visual storyteller and model from Kogi State was evicted during the live show on Sunday after viewers’ votes determined the fate of the housemates who were nominated for possible eviction.
His departure reduces the number of contestants still competing for the N160m prize package and marks the first major exit of the 11th season.
Martins was among the 24 housemates introduced when the reality show premiered on July 26. The season, themed ‘Everything Is for the Taking’ and also known as ‘Show Ya Sef’, has a record N160m prize package at stake, including N100m in cash and an SUV.
Before entering the house, Martins was known as a creative director, visual storyteller and model. He also identified basketball as one of his interests and humorously listed mind-reading among his hidden talents during his introduction to viewers.
At the beginning of his BBNaija journey, Martins said he was primarily interested in having fun and making the most of his time on the reality show.
“I came here to have fun,” he said during his introduction, setting the tone for his brief stint in the competition.
During his two-week stay, Martins became part of the social interactions and relationships that began to shape the dynamics of the new season. He bonded with several housemates and participated in conversations and activities as contestants settled into life in the house.
His birthday was also celebrated by the other housemates shortly after the season began. The contestants organised a special gathering for him, with Mercedes entertaining him with a performance while other housemates offered prayers and goodwill messages.
Martins’ eviction followed a week in which 16 housemates were initially placed at risk of leaving the competition. The nomination process came after Head of House Sheba saved Chimsom Chuka, while Aikou and Flora remained protected as the season’s gambits.
The development further highlights the twists already introduced into Season 11 as housemates battle through weekly nominations, tasks, alliances and evictions. With Martins now out of the competition, the remaining contestants will continue their pursuit of the grand prize as the race for the Season 11 crown gathers momentum.
