The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of a baby girl with his wife, Olori Oluwatosin, drawing congratulatory messages from across Nigeria and beyond.
The monarch shared the news through his official Instagram page, expressing gratitude to God for the safe delivery and confirming that both mother and daughter are in good health.
In his announcement, the traditional ruler described the birth as a divine blessing for the royal household and extended congratulations to the House of Oduduwa.
He offered prayers for the newborn princess, asking God to preserve her life and grant her wisdom, grace and honour as she grows. The palace also reassured well-wishers that Olori Oluwatosin and the royal baby are in excellent health following the delivery.
The latest addition to the royal family further expands the Ooni’s growing household and marks another significant moment for the Ile Ife monarchy.
The birth comes just months after the monarch welcomed twin boys with his first wife, Olori Mariam. At the time, the Ooni publicly thanked God for preserving the lives of the mother and the children, describing the arrival of the twins as another blessing upon the royal family.
Since the end of his marriage to Olori Naomi, the Ooni married six wives within a period of about three months. They include Olori Mariam, Olori Elizabeth Akinmuda, Olori Tobi Phillips, Olori Ashley, Olori Ronke and Olori Temitope, a development that attracted widespread public attention and discussions about the traditions of the ancient kingdom.
Addressing public reactions during the celebration of his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, the monarch explained that his marriages were influenced by the traditional heritage and customs of Ile Ife.
According to him, he had attempted to introduce changes but eventually accepted that certain aspects of the institution he occupies are rooted in long-standing cultural practices.
