Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has challenged fellow musician Terry G to a celebrity boxing match, saying the proposed bout would help revive Terry G’s career and return him to the spotlight.
Portable made the challenge during an interview on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels Television on Sunday, where he discussed his growing involvement in celebrity boxing.
Speaking during the interview, the ‘Zazuu’ crooner identified Terry G as the opponent he would most like to face next inside the ring. According to Portable, a one-on-one boxing contest between the two entertainers would generate renewed public interest in Terry G and put him back in the headlines.
“I want to fight Terry G. If Terry G fights me, one-on-one in boxing, he will rise again. People will remember him again,” Portable said.
When asked whether he believed the fight would help relaunch Terry G’s career, the singer responded in the affirmative, making it clear that he was prepared to step into the ring whenever the opportunity arises.
Portable also used the interview to reflect on his contribution to the development of celebrity boxing in Nigeria. He claimed his popularity in the music industry had helped attract greater attention to the sport, arguing that his participation has played a significant role in boosting public interest in exhibition boxing contests involving entertainers.
“I used my music career to build Nigerian boxing,” he said, maintaining that his influence extends beyond music into the country’s growing celebrity sports scene.
The singer also made another bold claim during the interview, insisting that no Nigerian artiste could win a Grammy Award without collaborating with him.
Portable has become one of the most recognisable figures in Nigeria’s celebrity boxing circuit since making his debut in December 2023. His first outing saw him defeat actor Charles Okocha by decision, a contest that attracted widespread attention across social media and entertainment platforms.
He returned to the ring in April 2025 for another high-profile contest against rapper Speed Darlington. Portable emerged victorious by technical knockout after his opponent sustained a shoulder injury during the bout, further strengthening his record in celebrity boxing.
However, the singer suffered his first defeat in May 2026 when he faced skit maker Carter Efe at the ‘Chaos in the Ring 4’ event in Lagos. Carter Efe claimed victory by unanimous decision, handing Portable his first loss since joining the exhibition boxing scene.
Despite that setback, Portable has continued to express interest in competing against other entertainers, positioning celebrity boxing as an avenue to entertain fans while expanding his brand beyond music.
