Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has condemned the online harassment directed at her 15-year-old brother after a video originally shared on Snapchat spread across multiple social media platforms and triggered a wave of mocking comments and edited images targeting the teenager.
Reacting on X, Baci said she was shocked that what she considered a harmless and playful moment with her younger brother became material for online ridicule.
According to her, users reposted the clip widely and turned it into an opportunity to insult and body-shame a minor.
The chef criticised individuals who altered photographs of her brother to exaggerate his appearance for entertainment, describing the behaviour as disturbing and inappropriate. She stressed that her brother had done nothing beyond appearing in a humorous family video and questioned why adults would choose to publicly mock a child.
Baci said the incident reflects a wider problem of online behaviour where engagement and humour are sometimes prioritised over empathy and personal responsibility.
She urged social media users to recognise the impact their actions can have, especially when minors become targets of public commentary.
The chef specifically condemned the decision by some users to manipulate images of her teenage brother to make him appear larger in order to attract reactions online. She argued that such conduct crossed ethical boundaries and highlighted how quickly digital spaces can become hostile.
Baci stated that public criticism does not define an individual’s worth. She described him as kind, valued, and still growing into adulthood, adding that negative remarks would not change the person she knows him to be.
Her comments drew attention to broader conversations around online conduct, cyberbullying and the responsibilities of users when engaging with content involving minors.
Baci concluded her message by urging users to exercise greater compassion online and remember that behind every viral post is a real person capable of being affected by public reactions.
