Yul Edochie advises men against crying over women

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has advised men not to become emotionally distressed over failed romantic relationships.

In a social media post, Yul Edochie cautioned men against what he described as excessive emotional attachment to women, insisting that men should not “cry over women” when relationships end.

He argued that such behaviour portrays weakness and lack of success, while encouraging men to instead focus on personal development and self-improvement after a breakup.

According to him, men are expected to redirect their energy towards becoming better versions of themselves rather than dwelling on heartbreak.

The actor further intensified the debate by stating that “a real man never cries because of a woman,” advising men to move on quickly when relationships fail and to wish their former partners well.

He maintained that emotional dependence on an ex-partner could make a man appear unsuccessful in the eyes of women. He also suggested that self-improvement and achieving personal success would naturally attract other women, reinforcing his position that men should prioritise growth over emotional expression in romantic setbacks.

In his words, he wrote: “Na mumu dey cry for woman. Abomination! Go and follow me on X, where I teach men how to be real men.”

The statement quickly circulated online, triggering debates among users who interpreted it differently, with some viewing it as motivational advice while others described it as insensitive and unrealistic.
