Afrobeats star Davido has declared that he will be actively involved in safeguarding votes during the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, reaffirming his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s bid for a second term in office.
The award-winning singer made the declaration through a post shared on his Instagram Story, where he warned against any attempt to manipulate the electoral process and pledged to be physically present during the election to ensure that votes cast by residents are protected.
The musician issued a stern warning to individuals who may attempt to interfere with the election outcome, insisting that any effort to rig the poll would be resisted. He also reiterated his commitment to supporting Governor Adeleke throughout the election period.
“On August 15, anybody who tries to rig go collect in the highest order. I will be in the field to defend our votes. Keke must ke if need be!!! @aadeleke_01, at your back, sir!” he wrote.
The singer accompanied his remarks with a video clip featuring former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Nnenna Otti, discussing issues surrounding electoral malpractice.
Davido has remained one of the most visible celebrity supporters of Governor Adeleke, who is also his uncle. His latest intervention further underscores the role prominent public figures continue to play in Nigerian politics, particularly through social media platforms where political messages can quickly reach millions of people.
Governor Adeleke is seeking re-election under the Accord Party and has continued to receive support from party members and political allies as preparations for the campaign gather momentum.
In April, after joining the Accord Party, Davido was appointed Head of Youth Mobilisation for the party’s campaign council.
