Davido apologises for missing Lagos show over aviation fuel shortage

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Davido has apologised to his fans after failing to appear at a scheduled performance in Lagos, attributing his absence to difficulties in securing aviation fuel.

The development disrupted what was expected to be a major outing for fans who had gathered for the event.

The music star had been billed to headline alongside Zlatan Ibile at Secret Place in Ikate Elegushi, where the nightclub was marking its fifth anniversary. Anticipation had been high ahead of the show, with many attendees turning up in expectation of a high-energy performance.

However, despite the turnout and excitement, Davido did not make an appearance, sparking disappointment among fans at the venue and generating widespread reactions across social media platforms.

In a statement shared via his Instagram story on Monday, the singer explained that unforeseen logistical challenges prevented him from honouring the engagement. He linked the disruption to ongoing global tensions, noting that the ripple effects had impacted aviation operations, particularly fuel availability.

“The world happened to me yesterday. These wars around the world have really started penetrating. Finding fuel was a problem yesterday to even fly. Everything had to be rescheduled,” he said.

Davido expressed regret over the missed performance, apologising directly to fans who attended the event and assuring them that efforts were underway to fix a new date. He pledged that the show would be rescheduled and delivered as promised.

“To my fans that pulled up, sorry I missed it. We’re going to run it back again soon,” he added.

Davido also extended congratulations to the event organisers on their milestone celebration, reiterating his support for the brand and commitment to making a future appearance.
