The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 632,788 candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking a major stage in the ongoing nationwide exercise.
Candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday can now access their results through the approved channels, according to the examination body.
In a statement issued on Saturday, JAMB confirmed that the results are currently available strictly for viewing, adding that the printing of result slips will be made available at a later stage. The Board stressed that candidates must use the same phone number used during registration to check their scores via SMS.
According to the board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 to access their results.
He noted that this remains the only official method for checking scores at this stage of the process.
JAMB also issued a strong warning against fraudulent activities, particularly the manipulation or falsification of results using digital tools, including artificial intelligence. The Board described such acts as criminal offences that would attract serious legal consequences.
The examination body disclosed that it has already acted against offenders, revealing that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for allegedly altering UTME scores through electronic means.
JAMB stressed that it treats such misconduct with the utmost seriousness and will ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
“The board strongly cautions candidates against tampering with SMS notifications received from official platforms to mislead others, including parents. Such actions are not only unethical but also punishable under the law,” the statement said.
While the release of the 632,788 results represents a significant milestone, JAMB clarified that the 2026 UTME exercise is still ongoing. The Board assured candidates and stakeholders that more results will continue to be released in batches as marking and verification processes are concluded.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by JAMB to strengthen the credibility of public examinations in Nigeria.
In recent years, the board has intensified monitoring measures and introduced stricter technological safeguards to curb examination malpractice.
The UTME remains a key requirement for admission into tertiary institutions across the country, making the integrity of the process a major concern for candidates, parents, and education authorities alike.
As the examination continues, the board reassured the public of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and zero tolerance for fraud in the conduct of the 2026 UTME.
