Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a pioneering initiative aimed at discovering, mentoring, and training emerging African music talents.
The foundation was unveiled on March 9, 2026, at The Delborough Lagos, and promises to offer comprehensive support across multiple areas of the music industry.
Speaking at the launch, Savage said the foundation will cover every aspect of the creative process, including film scoring, music publishing, music therapy, production, and sound engineering.
“This is everything to do with music, film scoring, music publishing, music therapy, production, sound engineering,” she said, highlighting her vision to bridge the gap between raw talent and access to professional training and international opportunities.
The foundation’s inaugural programme, in partnership with Berklee College of Music, United States, will select 100 African creatives for a four-day intensive training course in Lagos from April 23 to 26, 2026.
Participants will receive hands-on training in songwriting, live performance, music production, and music business, free of charge.
Savage also revealed that some exceptional participants may receive full scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music, including accommodation support.
“We don’t lack talent in Nigeria. We have so much talent. What I want to do is to create access so that people with talent can find the right infrastructure and education, and a bridge to the rest of the world,” Savage explained.
She encouraged aspiring creatives to seize the opportunity, noting that the foundation will continue annually, providing multiple chances for talent development.
The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation also aims to provide long-term mentorship, career guidance, and access to resources that will enable African creatives to thrive in the global entertainment industry.
Savage emphasised the importance of partnerships in sustaining the initiative, saying, “I don’t think you can ever have enough foundations. We are all trying to make Nigeria and the world a better place. Every foundation needs funds, and we need collaboration to support the creative industry.”
The launch event attracted a star-studded crowd, including media mogul Mo Abudu, talent manager Bose Ogulu, TV personality Toke Makinwa, and musicians Darey Art Alade and Johnny Drille.
Other notable attendees included entrepreneur Shade Okoya, business executive Florence Ita-Giwa, and cleric Bolaji Idowu. Political and business leaders such as Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Olasupo Olusi of Bank of Industry, Adaora Umeoji of Zenith Bank, and Festus Osifo of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria also attended to show their support.
Savage’s foundation represents a significant step toward creating a structured pathway for young African artists to develop their skills and gain exposure in the music industry. By combining intensive training, mentorship, and potential scholarships, the initiative seeks to address the longstanding challenge of talented creatives lacking access to professional guidance and opportunities.
With its focus on nurturing homegrown talent and fostering sustainable growth in the creative sector, the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation is poised to become a major force in the African music landscape, giving emerging artists the tools to succeed both locally and internationally.
