Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly dismissed claims made by 12-year-old Mitchelle Anuoluwapo Adeleke, who alleges he is her father and recently requested a DNA test to confirm her paternity.
The long-running dispute resurfaced on Thursday after the young girl directly appealed to the singer via Instagram.
Anuoluwapo shared that she has been subjected to bullying and ridicule by classmates since she was six, with other students mocking her for claiming that Davido is her father.
She described the experience as deeply upsetting, leaving her mentally distressed and seeking professional help to cope with the emotional strain.
The girl, who identifies herself as Davido’s eldest daughter, explained that she drafted her request independently and posted it publicly to finally resolve the question of her parentage. She tagged the singer on Instagram, appealing to him to take a DNA test to establish the truth.
Responding to the post, Davido firmly denied the allegations, stating that he is not her father. He revealed that he has undergone five separate DNA tests, all of which returned negative results.
In a comment on her Instagram post, he wrote, “I’ve taken 5 DNA tests, all negative. I am not your father. Never met your mom. She’s an obsessed fan lying to you. This needs to stop.”
The singer also took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration, describing the mother’s actions as “stupid behaviour” and suggesting legal action against her.
“After 5 DNA tests… she dey crase… her and her mom better leave me the f#ck alone and go find her papa,” he said, insisting that this would be the final time he addresses the matter.
Anuoluwapo stated that her mother has consistently maintained that Davido is her father, which prompted her to seek confirmation. She stressed that the DNA test is a personal matter, aimed at establishing her identity and resolving years of speculation.
“This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is something that is the right thing to do,” she said, thanking Nigerians who have supported her throughout the past seven years.
The public reaction has been mixed, with social media users divided between supporting the girl’s right to know her biological father and questioning the decision to make the appeal public.
The story has reignited conversations about celebrity paternity disputes and the effects of public scrutiny on children.
