President Bola Tinubu has condoled with award-winning writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie over the death of one of her toddler twins.
In his condolence message on X (formerly Twitter), while empathising with Adichie’s family, President Tinubu stated that “no grief is as devastating as losing a child.”
The BBC recently reported the death of Adichie’s 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi, whom she had with her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, after it was confirmed by the family.
The report stated that the boy died after a brief illness.
Issued on behalf of the family by Omawumi Ogbe, the statement said they were “devastated by this profound loss,” and thanked well-wishers while also asking for privacy and prayers.
Adichie, 48, had her first child, a daughter, in 2016. In 2024, her twin boys were born using a surrogate, the BBC added.
