Tacha sets two Guinness World Records for makeovers

Former Big Brother Naija contestant and entrepreneur, Anita Natacha Akide, widely known as Tacha, has officially been recognised by Guinness World Records for setting two new records for completing the highest number of cosmetic makeovers within eight hours and 24 hours.

Guinness World Records announced the accomplishment on X on Wednesday, stating, “Congratulations to @Symply_Tacha who set TWO new @GWR titles for the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours and 24 hours.”

Tacha secured the records during the Tacha Beauty Festival, which took place from October 10 to 12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos.

She carried out 82 makeovers in eight hours and went on to complete 144 makeovers over 24 hours, according to Guinness World Records.

The record-breaking feat followed months of planning. Before the event, Tacha had announced her intention to attempt the world record during her inaugural beauty festival, designed to celebrate creativity and empower Nigeria’s beauty industry.

Speaking before the festival, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Idris Aregbe, described the initiative as a statement of Nigerian excellence.

Aregbe said the Tacha Beauty Festival aimed to empower talent, celebrate culture, and create opportunities for beauty professionals.

The festival featured workshops, exhibitions, and masterclasses on makeup, skincare, wellness, and fashion. It also included a Vendor Village that connected local beauty brands with wider audiences, boosting the state’s creative and economic sector.

Reacting to the Guinness World Records announcement, Tacha shared an emotional message on Instagram, expressing gratitude to her fans, team, and late mother. She wrote that the achievement was powered by grace, persistence, and the unwavering support of her team and fans who refused to let her give up.

She said, “You smiled, talked, cried, and hyped me till the very last second. From the depth of my heart, thank you. We didn’t just work. We warred.”

Tacha reflected on the challenges she faced during the marathon session, including sleepless nights, swollen feet, shaky hands, and exhaustion.

“The world sees the headline, but God and I know the trenches, sleepless nights, prayers at 3a.m., swollen feet, shaky hands, and grace that does not lie,” she said.

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Tacha explained that her passion for beauty and desire to inspire women across Africa motivated her to pursue the record.

She said, “The idea of daring to be different drove me. From childhood, I was fascinated by colours and beauty. This record was born from that same spirit, resilience, and the courage to stand out.”

She added, “I wanted to show that Nigerian women can achieve anything they put their minds to, that creativity is powerful, and that African women deserve global recognition.”

Tacha also shared a message to her supporters, encouraging them to stay determined in pursuing their goals. She said, “Do not stop. If you don’t have haters, pray for haters because they will push you into purpose. While they hate, I chase destiny and win. My first name is Anita; it means gracious. And grace is loud on my life.”

Her double record triumph further cements her influence as one of Nigeria’s leading media personalities and entrepreneurs, while highlighting the strength, creativity, and resilience of Nigerian women in global recognition.
