Tension has continued to mount between Senator Ned Nwoko and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, as both parties trade fresh accusations over alleged drug use, abuse, and manipulation, a development that marks the latest twist in a months-long marital crisis that has captured public attention.
The latest exchange comes after weeks of social media drama and earlier reports of domestic violence, public outbursts, and the arrest of Regina’s brother, Sammy Daniels.
Trouble began in October when a video surfaced online showing a tearful Regina alleging violence in her marriage, claiming she was being emotionally and physically abused. The video went viral, sparking widespread concern among fans and prompting Nwoko to issue a statement denying the allegations.
In his rebuttal, the senator representing Delta North accused Regina of struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, which, he said, had strained their relationship. He maintained that the actress’s erratic behaviour was a result of substance use and disclosed that he had advised her to undergo rehabilitation, either in Nigeria or abroad.
“Regina’s current battle with substance abuse is the root cause of our problem. I have made efforts to help her recover, but her family and friends have continued to enable her addiction,” Nwoko had stated in October.
He also alleged that Regina’s brother, Sammy, was one of those enabling her habits, describing him as a negative influence. Weeks later, Sammy was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja, where he was arraigned and remanded pending bail conditions.
Amid the unfolding drama, Regina accused her estranged husband of using his political power to intimidate and isolate her. Taking to social media, she claimed that Nwoko was attempting to control her by targeting her family and friends.
“You want to find a reason to arrest everyone around me so that I will have no one left beside me,” she wrote.
The feud escalated further on Saturday when Nwoko, in a lengthy post on his X handle, accused Sammy of harassing his children and domestic staff.
He claimed to have sponsored Sammy’s education and personal expenses, including accommodation and musical equipment, amounting to over ₦125 million in financial assistance to Regina’s family.
“These videos show Sammy repeatedly coming to my home and harassing my children and staff, especially whenever I was not around. His visits were often aggressive and disruptive,” the senator alleged.
Nwoko further claimed that Regina’s rehabilitation was sabotaged by her brother and friends, who allegedly smuggled drugs to her during treatment.
“Rather than helping her get better, they kept drawing her back into the same destructive lifestyle,” he said, adding that his decision to involve law enforcement was to ensure Sammy received “professional rehabilitation and guidance rather than sympathy.”
Responding via Instagram on Sunday, Regina admitted to past drug use but described her estranged husband’s allegations as manipulative and sensational.
“Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public, shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media,” she said.
She also accused Nwoko of hypocrisy, alleging that he had encouraged her drug use because he preferred her that way.
“You are the same Ned who always wanted me high because, in your words, I’m ‘sexier’ when I’m high,” she wrote.
In a shocking twist, Regina went further to accuse Nwoko of sexual assault, unlawful confinement, and medical abuse, alleging that he seized her phones, isolated her, and forced doctors to inject her with sedatives.
“You lock me up and have doctors inject me with drugs meant for people with bipolar disorder,” she claimed.
Regina also revealed that there was no legal marriage between them, saying, “I would have filed for divorce long ago if there had ever been a legal marriage between us. We were never married in any court of law.”
The actress’s emotional revelations came days after she celebrated the reunion of her long-separated parents, which she described as a silver lining amid her personal crisis.
Her confession and the arrest of her brother have stirred public sympathy and social media debate, with fans and colleagues urging both parties to de-escalate hostilities.
