Davido’s ‘5ive’ tour

Oyo govt distributes free tickets for Davido’s ‘5ive’ tour in Ibadan tomorrow

Oyo State government has approved the distribution of thousands of free tickets to young residents of the state for the upcoming home‑leg concert of Davido’s ‘5ive’ Tour in Ibadan this Sunday.

The show is organised in partnership with Davido and the Youth Development Agency, with reports indicating more than 20,000 fans are expected to attend.

The announcement of the free tickets collection, shared via the state’s official X handle, will begin at 9am on Saturday at the office of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development (within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Secretariat, Ibadan).

Allocation will operate on a first‑come, first‑served basis, and interested youths must present one of the following means of identification: local government ID card, voter’s card, or National Identification Number (NIN) to verify residency in Oyo State.

Governor Seyi Makinde emphasised that the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and support of the creative economy.

The free‑ticket initiative is part of the Nigerian leg of the 5ive Tour. Announced earlier in October, the tour began in Akwa Ibom (Uyo) on 26 October, proceed to Adamawa (Yola) on 29 October, then Enugu on 1 November, before reaching Ibadan on 9 November, and will be concluding in Lagos on 25 December.

The announcement by Davido described the Nigerian leg as a “home‑coming” after his international run.

Davido’s current tour builds upon extensive international momentum. His fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’, was released in March 2023. The associated Timeless Tour included a substantial North American leg and concluded with a sold‑out performance at London’s The O2 Arena on 28 January 2024.

For Ibadan and Oyo State, hosting this concert with free tickets for youths is more than an entertainment event. It is a strategic endeavour for youth inclusion and creative‑economy growth.
