Reality TV star and media personality, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has stirred emotions after visiting her former one-room apartment in Nkpor, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, a place she described as “where it all began.”
The visit, captured in a now-viral video, showed the former Big Brother Naija housemate retracing her humble beginnings as she walked through the narrow, familiar streets of her old neighbourhood.
Residents gathered in excitement as she exchanged pleasantries, hugged old acquaintances, and greeted children who recognised her from afar.
During the homecoming, Tacha revisited the small tenement-style building where she once lived, recalling her early struggles and dreams as a young girl growing up in modest circumstances.
Standing before the room she once called home, she said, “This is where the dream of a little six-year-old girl literally started. This used to be my house and my compound. God is wonderful.”
She also reunited with her former hairstylist, who introduced her to her now-grown daughter.
Reflecting on her journey, Tacha remarked, “From a one-room apartment in Port Harcourt to breaking barriers on the world stage. In life, nothing is permanent. Join me on this historic journey.”
Tacha’s visit to her former home follows a string of notable moments in 2025 that have underscored her message of resilience, self-belief, and purpose.
In July, she made headlines for her statement urging Nigerians to stay in the country and work towards building it rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
The following month, in August, she once again went viral for advising young women to focus on self-development and independence, saying they should “be single until they are married.”
Her return to Port Harcourt also comes just days before her much-anticipated Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers on people within 24 hours.
The challenge is the centrepiece of her three-day beauty festival, scheduled to take place from 10 to 12 October 2025 at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Lagos.
According to her team, the project is designed to celebrate Nigeria’s creative and entrepreneurial energy while inspiring young people to believe in their potential.
Tacha described the initiative as “a tribute to every Nigerian hustler who started small and dared to dream.”
Before attaining fame, Tacha had already begun building a name for herself through her beauty business in Port Harcourt, offering makeovers and selling beauty products on social media.
Her determination and entrepreneurial spirit attracted a growing online audience long before her participation in the 2019 Big Brother (BB) Naija: Pepper Dem season.
Although she was disqualified before the BBNaija finale, she transformed that setback into a springboard for success.
