APC Osun governorship election

APC unveils timetable, fixes N50 million fee for 2026 Osun governorship election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its official timetable and fee structure for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, detailing key dates for nomination, screening, delegate congresses, and the party primary.

The announcement was made by the party’s national organising secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, in a statement issued from the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the schedule, the election process will formally begin with a notice of election to the state chapter on Friday, 3 October 2025. This will be followed by the update of the party’s membership register between Monday, 20 October, and Friday, 31 October 2025.

Only members whose names appear in the register and who have been financially up to date with dues for at least one year as of February 2025 will be eligible to vote or contest.

The sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for governorship aspirants will commence on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, with a deadline for submission of completed forms, supporting documents, and delegate forms on Monday, 1 December 2025.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for 3–4 December, while the party primary will be held on Saturday, 13 December 2025. Appeals arising from the primary election will be addressed the following day.

To promote inclusivity, the APC has announced concessions for women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Female aspirants and PWDs will only pay for the Expression of Interest Form, while the Nomination Form is free. Youth aspirants aged 25 to 40 will benefit from a 50 per cent discount on the Nomination Form.

The party outlined the following fee structure for the governorship contest: Expression of Interest Form – N10 million; Nomination Form – N40 million, bringing the total to N50 million.

Delegate Forms will cost N5,000. Forms are available at the APC Directorate of Organisation, 2nd Floor, National Headquarters, No. 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.

On the election of delegates, only financial members with a minimum of three months’ active membership prior to the congress are eligible, with a subscription rate of N200 per month.

Other milestones in the timetable include publication of screening results, appeal hearings, and a congress to ratify the primary election outcome in line with the 2022 Electoral Act (as amended).

The announcement comes as the 2026 governorship election in Osun, scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for 8 August 2026, approaches.

Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who defeated the then-incumbent APC governor Gboyega Oyetola in 2022, is expected to seek re-election, setting the stage for a high-stakes rematch between the two parties.

The APC timetable and substantial nomination fees signal an intense internal contest as aspirants begin mobilisation and grassroots engagement ahead of the December primaries.

Members and aspirants seeking further information have been directed to contact the APC Directorate of Organisation.
