The unveiling of sub-committees follows months of preparations and earlier decisions by the PDP leadership.
In May, the party’s National Executive Committee approved the dates of November 15 and 16 for the convention and confirmed Ibadan as the host city. This decision replaced an earlier plan to hold the convention in Kano in August.
In August, the PDP inaugurated a 110-member main Organising Committee led by Governor Fintiri, underscoring its readiness for the exercise. The party also inaugurated a National Convention Zoning Committee to address the sensitive issue of zoning national offices, a crucial step before the convention.
The PDP has repeatedly assured members that the convention will be conducted transparently and in line with the constitution, dismissing speculation about a parallel convention.
Party leaders say the choice of Ibadan reflects its historical role in Nigerian politics and its capacity to host a national event of such scale.
With sub-committees now in place, preparations are expected to intensify in the weeks leading up to the convention, where new national officers will emerge to steer the affairs of the party.
