Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan has challenged Afrobeats star Davido to publicly speak against the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 general elections, questioning whether the singer will maintain the same political stance he demonstrated while campaigning for his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
VeryDarkMan made the challenge in a video shared online, where he recalled Davido’s vocal involvement in the Osun governorship election and his criticism of the APC while supporting Adeleke.
The activist questioned Davido’s current relationship with the party and said he would be watching to see whether the singer would again use his large social media platform to influence political discussions ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to VeryDarkMan, Davido was particularly active during the Osun election because his family was directly involved through Adeleke’s candidacy.
He argued that the singer’s political messaging at the time helped draw attention to the election and mobilise public support for his uncle, making it important for him to demonstrate consistency if he still believes the APC should be opposed.
VeryDarkMan said he would be waiting for Davido during the 2027 elections to determine whether the singer’s voice would be equally prominent. He noted that Davido had previously used social media to campaign and engage with political issues during the election involving his uncle, which attracted significant attention from supporters and followers online.
The activist specifically challenged the singer to speak up if he believes Nigerians are dissatisfied with the APC. He said he expected Davido to use his platform to encourage voters to reject the party if that remained his position when the next general elections are held.
VeryDarkMan also questioned what he described as a change in Davido’s relationship with the APC compared with his previous opposition to the party. He argued that the singer had been actively criticising the APC when his uncle’s political interests were directly involved but appeared to have adopted a different posture since then.
