Oyo State governor and the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, will on Friday inaugurate the party’s Oyo State presidential and governorship campaign council, marking a major step in preparations for the 2027 general election.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place at 3:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Governor’s Office, Ibadan, where key party officials are expected to assume responsibilities for coordinating campaign activities across the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju.
According to the statement, the newly constituted council has been designed to coordinate both the presidential and governorship campaigns in Oyo State, with appointments covering strategic leadership positions across the state’s three senatorial districts, as well as women and youth mobilisation.
Leading the campaign structure is the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Nureni Adeniran, who has been appointed as the Oyo State coordinator of the APM 2027 presidential campaign and director-general of the state’s governorship campaign council.
The statement also announced the appointment of Saheed Arowosaye, former chairman of Oyo East Local Government, as the deputy state coordinator of the APM 2027 presidential campaign.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Demola Ojo, will serve as deputy director-general for the south.
In addition, Dr Femi Ojo and Siju Lawal have been named deputy directors-general for Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial Districts respectively.
The appointments are intended to strengthen campaign coordination across the state’s senatorial zones and ensure effective grassroots mobilisation as the election season approaches.
The campaign council also features dedicated leadership for women and youth engagement. Ramata Agberemi Dabo has been appointed director of the women’s wing, while former special assistant on youth to Governor Makinde, Kazeem Bolarinwa, will head the Youth wing as director.
According to the statement, the campaign structure remains a work in progress, with additional appointments expected to be announced in the coming days. The inclusion of more members is expected to further expand the party’s campaign machinery as it prepares for both the presidential and governorship contests.
